[LAB/001] — Independent research & product lab

We research hard problems, then ship what they imply.

HYP Labs studies the systems underneath the internet — money, privacy, and how machines read the web — and turns the findings that hold up into products.

§01Method

How the lab works.

Three stages, in order. A question can stop at any of them — that is the method working, not failing.

Pipeline
03 stages · in order

  1. 01 / 03

    Investigate

Every product starts as a question we can’t answer yet. We read the specs, run the experiments, and write down what’s true.

    In
    An open question
    Out
    Notes on what’s true
  2. 02 / 03

    Prove

Claims are checked against code, not copy. If we can’t demonstrate it, we don’t say it.

    In
    A claim
    Out
    A demonstration
  3. 03 / 03

    Ship

What survives becomes a product: small, durable, and built on open networks.

    In
    What survived
    Out
    A product

§02Products

Built from what held up.

Things the lab has shipped, and what’s next.

§03Research

Field notes.

The first papers are being written. Get them when they publish.

  • A/01 Money on open networks Payments, settlement and custody on public ledgers.
  • A/02 Verifiable privacy What cryptography can actually promise, and what it can’t.
  • A/03 Machines reading the web How software and AI systems find, parse and trust what’s published.

§04Principles

How we decide what to build, and what to say.

Three of the six. The rest, and why, are on the about page.

  1. P/01

    Research before product.

We start from a question, not a roadmap. A product exists only when the research says it should.

  2. P/02

Say only what we can prove.

Every claim we make — on a page, in a paper, in a pitch — is one we can demonstrate. If we can’t show it, we don’t say it.

  3. P/04

    Privacy by construction.

Where we hold your data, we try not to be able to read it. This site’s contact form is end-to-end encrypted.
